Helotes, TX – May 22, 2025 – From 11 AM to 2 PM, a powerful celebration of compassion and community unfolded at the breathtaking The Oaks at Heavenly in Helotes, Texas. In a moment that moved many to tears, Angie Lozano, founder of Angie’s Angels, was awarded a transformational $100,000 donation from the Kym’s Angels Foundation.

Angie’s Angels, operating with zero paid staff and an all-volunteer board, has long been a beacon of hope for families in crisis. Angie and her team help everyone—children, seniors, single parents, veterans, and adults with medical needs. Her open-hearted leadership has become a symbol of service without conditions.

“Angie pours her heart into helping others, and what makes her special is that she truly helps everyone,” said Rosanne Gonzales, Executive Director of Spina Bifida Texas. “To witness her receive this blessing was deeply emotional. She’s a force for good in this world.”

The check was presented by Kym Rapier and Glenn Verette, co-founders of the Kym’s Angels Foundation, who had just returned from their humanitarian efforts in Africa. Their presence was a powerful reminder that local change is just as critical as global outreach.

Yolanda Valenzuela, a key leader within Kym’s Angels Foundation and a huge supporter of Angie’s Angels, played a significant role in organizing the event and continues to be a vital force in uplifting grassroots organizations across Texas.

🧡 A Gathering of Hope

The venue was filled with more than just applause—it was filled with impact. Over 15–20 nonprofit organizations, many Angie’s Angels clients, and supporters from across the city gathered to witness the moment. Children served by the organization, and adults living with health challenges, were present to share their gratitude and stories of transformation.

Guests were treated to a beautifully prepared lunch and dessert, thanks to Heavenly Gourmet Catering, owned by Loretta Ortiz and Al Ortiz, who also co-own The Oaks at Heavenly. Their service and menu added a delicious and elegant touch to the afternoon celebration.

“It was a beautiful thing to be in a room full of helpers,” said Lisa Ugarte, who attended in support of the cause. “People who are committed to making a difference, lifting each other, and building community from the heart.”

🌟 Honored Leaders in Attendance

  • Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai, a board member of Angie’s Angels, lent his presence and voice to celebrate the organization’s tremendous work.
  • Chris Herring, Executive Director of Global Chamber San Antonio, former Mayoral candidate, Stage 4 cancer survivor, and one of Angie’s “Models of Courage,” walked the runway in tribute to resilience and recovery.
  • Teresa Chavarria, a 27-year esthetician, 16-year educator, representing Evolve TX Medical Group and Editor-in-Chief of River Walk Magazine, brought her signature presence and community engagement to the celebration.

This inspiring event honors individuals who have triumphed through adversity and helps raise crucial funds to support families in crisis.
