SPF, or Sun Protection Factor, measures how well a product shields your skin from UVB rays — the ones that cause sunburn and contribute to skin cancer. But here’s the truth: UVA rays (which cause premature aging) are just as harmful — and they’re out all year, even when it’s cloudy.
Living in the South means intense sun exposure, and daily SPF is your best line of defense to:

- Reduce skin cancer risk

🌞 Sunscreen vs. Sunblock: Know the Difference
Many people use the terms interchangeably, but they’re not the same.
- Sunblock (a physical barrier): Reflects UV rays off your skin using minerals like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Great for sensitive or acne-prone skin.
- Sunscreen (a chemical protector): Absorbs UV rays and disperses them before they cause damage. Often lightweight and invisible under makeup.
